Fill up a balloon without blowing it up

My daughter just finished a week of science camp and loved it. I wanted to keep the momentum going so I looked up the science experiment pins I have. This one sounded great (and we had everything at home).
What you need:
Empty water bottle
Balloon
3/4 cup vinegar
1/8 - 1/4 cup baking soda
Two funnels - one dry and one to get wet
Using the wet funnel, pour the vinegar into the water bottle

Put the balloon around the dry funnel and fill with the baking soda.

Keeping the balloon folded over (so the baking soda doesn't mix with the vinegar yet) and wrap the opening of the balloon around the water bottle.

Then lift up the top of the balloon and allow the baking soda to mix with the vinegar.

The balloon will start to fill. We did six balloons today and three of them had the vinegar mixture get so big the liquid filled the balloon too. My daughter thought those were the best ones!!!
